Short answer: No, we’re not a Hyrox® affiliate. But if you’re training for one, you’re in the right place.
Hyrox is a fitness competition that’s been exploding in popularity over the past few years. Think of it like a race that combines functional fitness and endurance work — accessible enough for most people to train for, but challenging enough to keep even seasoned athletes on their toes.
Each event features the same format worldwide: 1 km run, followed by a functional movement. Repeat that eight times. Movements include things like:
So while it’s a race, it’s not just about running — it’s about being well-rounded in strength and stamina.
It’s predictable. It’s measurable. It’s scalable.
Like a half marathon, you don’t need a special gym or custom program to get started — just the motivation to train consistently and a general fitness base. The format appeals to anyone who wants a challenge but isn’t necessarily into traditional races or competitive lifting.
And the vibe at these events? Electric. The community is super supportive, and everyone’s there to push their limits and cheer each other on.
One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need a Hyrox-branded gym or a specialized Hyrox program to prepare. You don’t.
Most athletes doing well at these events train in regular CrossFit-style gyms or functional fitness spaces. The foundational movements are things we do daily at Beach City Fitness. In fact, if you’re doing group classes here — especially Sweat45 or our CompTrain program — you’re already doing 80% of what you need.
Our CompTrain track is a perfect prep ground if you’ve got a Hyrox event in your sights. It builds the capacity, strength, and mental grit needed for that kind of challenge. Plus, it’s part of your regular membership — no fancy “Hyrox upcharge” here.
We also offer:
Hyrox Canada events have been selling out fast — including the recent CanHyrox which filled up in no time. If you're aiming to compete but didn't get a spot, here's a pro tip: look into their volunteer program. Not only is it a great way to experience the event, but volunteers sometimes get early access to registration.
You don’t need to be a “Hyrox athlete” to train like one. You just need the willingness to show up, move with purpose, and commit to getting better over time. Whether your goal is to crush a Hyrox event or just feel more capable in everyday life, Beach City Fitness is here for it.
Let’s train.
