The teenage years are a time of enormous change.
Bodies are changing. School is changing. Sports are changing. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, young women are figuring out who they are and what they’re capable of.
That’s one of the reasons we created StrongHER Teens.
StrongHER isn’t just about teaching girls how to lift weights. It’s about helping them become stronger, more athletic, and more confident in their bodies, and giving them a place to build those qualities during some of the most formative years of their lives.
Over the years, we’ve watched StrongHER athletes use strength training to become better at the sports and activities they already love.
For some, that means getting stronger for school sports.
For others, it means building the strength and athleticism they need for ice skating, dance, soccer, volleyball, basketball, skiing, and other activities.
And sometimes, it means coming back from an injury.
For a young athlete, losing strength or confidence after an injury can be incredibly frustrating. Strength training gives them a structured way to rebuild, starting where they are and gradually working toward being stronger, more capable, and ready to return to the things they love.
Learning how to get back up? Invaluable and a lifelong skill.
Along the way, they learn how to lift, jump, land, run, push, pull, carry, and control their bodies.
Those skills don't just make them better athletes. They give them a physical foundation they can take with them into whatever comes next.
One of the best parts of coaching teenagers is watching them realize they're stronger than they thought.
Not through hype or empty motivation, but because they've actually done the work.
They add weight to a lift. They learn a new skill. They get their first push-up. They come back from an injury stronger than they were before.
Those experiences matter.
They give teen girls real evidence of what they're capable of, and that is something they can carry with them long after they leave the gym.
We've seen firsthand how physical strength can change the way a girl carries herself.
When you feel strong in your body, it's easier to feel strong in your mind.
The confidence our athletes build in the gym often shows up outside of it, too; in school, in sports, and in the way they approach challenges.
And perhaps most importantly, they develop that confidence from something they have earned themselves.
Finding out what your body is capable of, especially at a young age, can instill a sense of pride and confidence that no one can take from you.
That's what we want StrongHER athletes to take with them:
Not just stronger muscles, but a lasting belief in themselves.
Because the goal isn't simply to create strong teenage girls.
It's to help create strong women who know what they're capable of and aren't afraid to find out.
Our next StrongHER Teens block is coming up, and we're opening the program to both returning athletes and girls who are completely new to StrongHER.
We're also hosting a FREE newcomer class on August 31st, so your teen can bring a friend and experience StrongHER together.
Spots are limited and we expect this class to fill quickly.
